Martial Arts
The
martial arts includes a wide variety of different forms of self-defense
training. The number of different martial art forms are too
numerous to mention, as are the number of different countries from
which these art forms hail. Discipline, strength, speed, and
moral values are all integral components of the many martial arts
training facilities located throughout the city.
Due
to the high intensity contact involved in this sport, the types
of injuries that can occur are countless. Contusions,
fractures,
and various forms of muscle
strains are quite common. One problem that has often
been seen in the feet of martial arts specialists is a sprain of
the first metatarso-phalangeal joint, more commonly known as
"Sand
Toe". Due to his/her keen self awareness, a well
trained martial artist may begin to notice muscle imbalances within
their body. Active Release Technique can greatly aid this
problem since it has proven itself to be quite effective in helping
to restore proper muscle function.
