Weightlifter's
Blackout
Weightlifter's
blackout is a loss of consciousness due to a lack of oxygen to the
brain. This is a result of the internal pressure created when
lifting large amounts of weight. This can decrease the amount
of blood being returned to the heart (most often preceded by a weightlifter
hyperventilating before a lift). Proper lifting technique
counseling is needed for prevention of reoccurrence.
