Achilles
Tendonitis
The Achilles
tendon is the tendon that attaches your calf muscles to the heel
of your foot. It is one of the thickest and toughest tendons
in the body. However, someone who constantly runs can put
enough stress through their legs to cause injury even to this structure.
The
problem is often caused by very tight calf muscles combined with
excessive speed work and hill running. To correct the
problem, scar tissue must be broken up using A.R.T. and ultrasound.
A proper stretching regime and the use of kinesiotape
before a run will also greatly aid in the problem.
