Thoracic
Outlet Syndrome (TOS)
Thoracic
outlet syndrome is a disruption of the normal function of the nerves
leaving the cervical spine and innervating the upper extremities.
This is most often caused from an impingement of either the nerve
itself, or its blood supply. Often, the impingement site is
located where the nerves pass through tight muscle groups (particularly
the pectoralis minor and scalene muscles). Active Release
and adjusting the cervical spine can normalize muscle tension and
relieve the impingement site. A postural analysis and rehabilitation
are needed to avoid reoccurrence.
