What about my running shoes?

For any runner, the most important piece of equipment they own is the pair of shoes on their feet. Not only will the doctors at Active Body work to resolve any current injuries, we will consult with an athlete to make sure they are in the proper footwear to help prevent future problems.

Many may not be aware of the technology that goes into making a running shoe. On a basic level, a properly fit running shoe should function much like an orthotic and support the specific needs for the athlete's mechanics. Much to this point, a properly fit shoe should never have to be 'broken in'. If you have to break in a shoe, you are breaking down the materials of the shoe to fit your mechanics. Those materials should be supporting your foot and helping maximize the efficiency of your foot movement. We will show you how shoes are put together and how their different materials can be best suited to your needs.

At our clinic we will take a close look at your foot and body mechanics. Based on these mechanics we will make recommendations on a shoe to help improve your mechanics and prevent injury.

Do you recommend a certain brand? Not necessarily. We realize runners can be loyal to a brand they have preferred for years. Our goal is to educate our athletes on the technology in shoes to help maximize their running potential.

We have also been working with local running community and may even be able to get you a discount on your next pair of shoes at certain stores!
