Why
Lowe's is the best hardware
store in town... Article by: Dr. Dylan Drynan
The Lowe's hardware store on West Toughy avenue in Lincolnwood has won my heart. Here's how they did it... Last November my wife, Cristina, headed off to find a store that could cut some wood into some custom shapes for us. The reason she was doing this was because we needed to build a custom therapy table for my son Lucas. My son Lucas has Cerebral Palsy and we are currently doing some new therapies with him that require this custom built table. So, with her blueprints in hand, Cristina headed off to the local Lowe's. Cristina headed into the wood department at Lowe's and met the Sales Manager, Matt. She asked him if they could help her cut the custom wood shapes so that we could then try to assemble them at home later. Matt took a look at the plans and then rather than offering to just get the wood cut, he offered to assemble the whole table for us. He said we could buy the parts and then he would put it together for us as a 'weekend fun project'! Now Matt didn't even know what the table was for or that it was going to benefit a disabled child and just did this out of the kindness of his heart. My wife and I were both extatic at this great gift we were being given. A couple of weeks later when we went back to pick up the table, Matt found out what the table was for. When he told the other managers about the table being for a little boy with Cerebral Palsy they decided to donate the table to us on behalf of Lowe's! This isn't the type of treatment I usually expect from a giant super-store! Thousands of people pass through Lowe's every day and yet they treated my family like we were close neighbors and friends. Lowe's will forever be my hardware store for the kind deeds they have done. If you want a hardware superstore that still gives you the personal attention that you'd get at a small-town corner store...check out Lowe's. |
